I have been a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada since 1996. I had been intrigued by the theory of astronomy since I was in high school. I started observing about 5 or 6 years ago, when my wife bought me my first dobson. I still have it, and will probably never get rid of it. It is an 8" F/6 SkyWatcher. That same year, she put me in contact with one of the local astronomy clubs, and I have been a member ever since. Since then, I have joined two other clubs, and participated in at least 2 regional star-parties and 2 star-parties abroad. I try to observe at least one to two evenings a month, if not more. In that time, I have held the position of committee advisor for the Longueuil club for two years now and for the Boucherville club I have held the position of committee advisor for one year and president for this past year. |
